Gil R. Miranda, Pikoy's creator is an artist, writer, professor, company executive, businessman, politician and diplomat.  He holds a Bachelors Degree in Fine Arts, major in Advertising and a Masters Degree in Business Administration.  He is a former company executive turned businessman, and  a former associate professor in Public Speaking at the Philippine Public Safety College (PPSC) He was elected to the Provincial Board of the Province of Laguna in 1992, then became the province's International Relations and Trade Officer in 2001 to 2010. He is now retired, devoting much of his time in graphic design, writing, slide presentations, corporate videos, and short story videos like "Mga Kuwento ni Pikoy."

 

His love for the province's history and its urban myths and legends were developed after he wrote  two of his books "A Journey in Time" and "Traveling Through Laguna's History," an abstract of Laguna's past and its towns and cities.  He created Pikoy, the verbose parrot for children, who according to him, most need to know facts, myths and legends of the past so they can bring them to the future.
